The Par 71, 6576 metres, Chateaux Course, which was designed in 1989 by American golf course architect, Bill Coore, a native of North Carolina and a graduate of Wake Forest University, is in the purest Scottish links tradition. The broad fairways lined with heathers, gorse and broom, lead players through unspoilt natural surroundings. The quality of the greens, the influence of the winds coming in from the ocean and the layout's technical difficulties make this championship course a top notch golfing challenge. Bill COORE began his professional career in 1972 in the Pete DYE & Associates golf architectural firm. He worked for 10 years with this famous golf course architect gaining broad experience in the various stages of golf course construction. Bill COORE set up his own architectural company in 1982 and later, in 1986, formed a partnership with Ben CRENSHAW two-time Augusta Masters champion.
Dedicated to quality and designing only very natural golf courses, the pair has created numerous golf courses in the U.S.A. over the past 20 years.
Located 20 Km from the Atlantic Ocean, the Châteaux Course is designed in Scottish links-style, its 18 holes surrounded by a magnificent natural setting.
But even the most meticulous maintenance could not have made Châteaux "one of the region's finest golf courses", according to specialist guides, if its concept and design had not been so inspired by the oceanfront landscape that characterizes it. The painstaking preparation required only adds to and enhances its natural beauty.
